Preseem, WISPA first-ever WISP Virtual Summit Results in Resounding Success
St. Cloud, Florida, and Waterloo, Ontario, September 1, 2020 – With the data, feedback and analysis completed, Preseem, a leading quality of experience (QoE) networking solution for the fixed wireless industry, proudly announces that the first-ever WISP Virtual Summit and Live Expo, held in late July 2020, was an unequivocal success. Given the ongoing pandemic and cancellation of many in-person industry events, the initiative by Preseem, supported by the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA) and leading industry partners, made it possible for WISP owners and operators to congregate virtually. All profits from the event – over $30,000 – have been donated to WISPA to further their work to promote and support the fixed wireless industry.More than 500 attendees, representing WISPs from the United States, Canada, and select international markets, as well as consultants and vendors, participated in the live event. The participants accumulated more than 5,000 views by streaming the Summit’s 17 sessions, which included tracks spanning business and regulatory, technical, and WISP owner’s special and sponsored breakouts themes.
A staggering 89% of registered attendees took part in the live online event and had the opportunity to engage with over 30 expert speakers, as well as other participants via 1-1 virtual chats. Throughout the course of the event, attendees had the opportunity to join a variety of group discussions, visit virtual vendor booths, and enter contests and raffles for a chance to win over $1000 in prizes!
The Summit’s opening keynote address was delivered by Claude Aiken, President and CEO of WISPA, who touched on the profound impact WISPs have made as providers within their communities amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. “The success of the Summit shows that the WISP community can come together, learn and engage, even in challenging times,” said Aiken. “Preseem, WISPA staff and all the presenters organized a tremendous event – something the industry should be proud of – and Preseem’s contribution to WISPA and our membership is simply beyond generous,” he added.
Aterlo Networks Inc., the team behind Preseem, organized the Summit and it was made possible by the support of WISPA and significant sponsorships from leading industry manufacturers and vendors: Cambium Networks, RF elements, VISP.net, IP ArchiTechs, Link Technologies, Atheral, Aviat Networks, Ping Marketing, Azotel / Solutions4ebiz, Billmax, Ritalia Funding, TowerCoverage, Micronet, and SAF Tehnika. Dan Siemon, co-founder and VP at Preseem further said that “such events allow all members of the fixed wireless community to get together, learn from each other, and showcase their success in bridging the digital divide. We will continue to host and support virtual events like this in the future.”
The feedback from the Summit has been overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees left great feedback for each of the sessions, with session ratings averaging over 4.5 out of 5 stars. Lori Collins, President and CEO at SonicNet, a WISP operator based out of Eagle River, Wisconsin, had this to say about the event: “The virtual format for one working day allows all of our staff to attend, which is not possible with site-based conferences involving travel and staff being out of town. Thanks so much for taking the initiative to provide this excellent format and working with WISPA and others to make it happen.”
In order to further its positive impact within the industry, Preseem will release video recordings of each of the core sessions from the event, for free. These sessions will be accessible on Preseem’s website in September, with more details becoming available soon.
