CBRS Auction Bidders Show Small License Areas Bring More to the TableToday, the FCC announced the winning bidders in the just completed CBRS auction (located here).
The following statement be attributed to Louis Peraertz, VP of Policy for WISPA:
Washington, DC, September 2, 2020 – We congratulate the WISPA members who won licenses, many of whom participated in spectrum auctions for the first time. Bidding activity was fierce, especially so in localities outside of major metro areas. This proves smaller bidding licensing actually bring more money to the U.S. Treasury, as well as more diverse bidders to the plate, ultimately helping American broadband consumers get the services they demand and need.
WISPA’s 1000 members are composed of fixed Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) and the industry that supports fixed wireless broadband, including equipment suppliers, support services, and other components needed to run a successful business. Our members, and WISPs, in general, provide broadband access to over 6 million residential and business customers, often in exclusively rural areas.
