WISPA Congratulates President Biden on Signing Infrastructure Bill

Washington, DC, November 15, 2021 – WISPA hails President Joe Biden for his signing of the bi-partisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA), which provides $65 billion of Federal support for broadband deployment, affordability and middle-mile funding.  We worked hard with both sides of the aisle to ensure that the crux of the bill – its tech-diverse, “get it done” approach to deploying broadband – was included, giving it true heft in eradicating the stubborn digital divide.  Our community-based and Tribal providers who use fixed wireless and fiber technology to serve over 7 million customers nationwide are natural partners in achieving the goals of the IIJA, and we look forward to the tremendous opportunity to further that work with the states and the NTIA, and make good on the law’s historic promise.
WISPA’s 1000 members are composed of fixed Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) and the evolving industry that supports fixed broadband connectivity, including equipment suppliers, support services, and other components needed to run a successful business. Our members, and WISPs in general, provide broadband access to millions of residential and business customers in rural, urban and Tribal areas across America.
