WISPAMERICA Opens in Louisville

Louisville, KY, March 6, 2023 – WISPAMERICA opened today with its Broadband Billions Bootcamp (BBB), starting the annual four-day trade conference, this year being held in Louisville, KY.

WISPs bring reliable broadband to approximately 9 million Americans, many of whom live in the hardest to reach and serve parts of the country.  Each year in the spring, WISPAMERCA attracts more than 1,500 WISP operators, vendors and industry leaders to learn, see the latest technology and meet with their ecosystem brethren to take stock of where the WISP industry is and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.  Featuring dozens of expert breakout sessions and over 100 exhibitors, WISPAMERICA provides attendees a one-stop shop to garner the industry’s latest operational, technological and regulatory trends.

Today’s day-long BBB offers attendees important updates on Congress’ massive Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and its implementation through the NTIA’s BEAD NOFO.  In particular, the panel presentations will bring to light newly emerging details of the NOFO, helping WISPs of varying operational models know what it takes at the Federal and state levels to access, or defend against, the broadband deployment program.

WISPAMERICA’s top sponsor is Calix, which is a leader in the fiber marketplace. The WISP ethos places an enormous value on choosing the right tool for the job, and that means being open to all solutions.  Although fixed wireless access remains a huge part of the WISP business model, more and more WISPs are using fiber to get their customers online.  Calix’s commitment to our shows reflects that natural evolution of the industry, as WISPs ceaselessly strive to bring connectivity wherever it is needed.

WISPA is honored to hold this yearly event and tell the story of the WISP industry, which proudly brings reliable broadband to communities in the digital divide, 24/7/365.  WISPAMERICA runs through March 9th at the Kentucky International Convention Center, Louisville, KY.
