WISPA Applauds FCC Action on 6GHz Band

The following statement may be attributed to Louis Peraertz, VP of Policy for WISPA – Broadband Without Boundaries:

Washington, DC, October 19, 2023 – WISPA applauds the FCC’s unanimous vote today, further implementing the allocation of 1,200 megahertz of the 6 GHz band for unlicensed use.  Unlicensed wireless communications touch billions of people daily, making all of our lives safer, more productive and better.  Opening up the 6 GHz band for commercial use domestically will only add to that, especially with the roll-out later this year of 850 megahertz within the band for standard power, outdoor use.  As to the latter, the importance of this aspect of the 6 GHz band cannot be overstated.  Small rural ISPs eagerly await this new capacity and will rapidly employ it to further bridge the digital divide in hard-to-reach and serve communities across America.  We congratulate the FCC for sticking to its guns and fostering the safe use of this vital band – one which will make spectrum more useful for all Americans.
